Description: Hubbard lectures on Dr. Frieda Fromm-Reichmann's method of mimicking a psychotic person.

Now, ole’ Frieda Fromm-Reichmann, the great Frieda Fromm-Reichmann, has a process which is intensely successful. If she knew where to go from there, she would be a great psychiatrist. She is the greatest in the United States and the world, almost, today, but that doesn’t make her a very great psychiatrist.

Anyway, Frieda Fromm-Reichmann will go into the cell with a madman who is standing there gibbering and raising, and if he will reach down and pick up a handful of excretion and throw it against the wall, why Frieda Fromm-Reichmann, the dear old lady, will suddenly reach down, pick up a handful of excretion and throw it against the wall. Anything a psycho does, she’ll do. And they, all of a sudden, start talking to her. Isn’t this peculiar? And then, God help her, she goes on and uses analysis. There is the effective process. Not just to get somebody in communication.

Hubbard, L. R. (1954, 6 October). Two Way Communication. Eighth American Advanced Clinical Course, (8ACC-04). Phoenix, Arizona.
